How can I know whether to wear brown or black sunglasses?
What is your complexion like? What color is your hair? What kind
of a statement do you want to use your sunglasses
to make?
For
men: Shoes may be the “classiest” accessory (women will particularly notice
them, thus don't let them fall apart and take care of them), Watches and ties
may be the most “professional”; jewelry
can be the “flashiest”, but Sunglasses… Sunglasses are the “coolest”. What ones
you choose need to be loved by you and thus give you confidence when you wear
them. Remember women noticing your shoes?
Well women look people in the eye, it will be one of the first things they try
to do to a man, those sunglasses are the closest they get until you take them
off, so why not think about that when buying a pair?!?
If you
live in a place where you use them regularly, build a collection and then you
can have both Black and Brown (I'm assuming you mean Tortoise colored when you
say brown). But if you're investing in a quality pair and you need to choose…
First
and only rule: Whichever ones you love the most? The ones that give you
confidence the moment you try them on? Yeah, get those ones!
Beyind
that; consider these comments.
Tortoise
Shell sunglasses were practically invented for the fair-skinned, light-haired
people out there. A cool (temperature now, not awesome) skin tone will be more
pronounced with flat black sunglasses, a warmer Tortoise color will compliment
it.
This is Damien Lewis in Life (great show,
DAMNIT why didn't it stay on!) He’s a handsome chap with red hair and fair
skin, and his Tortoise Persol 2747s suit him down to the ground.
NOW…however,
you have fair-skin, but dark hair, particularly black hair, then Tortoise is
going to clash with that hair, warm browns and tans next to shiny black hair?!
No good.
Chow Yun Fat understands this…Chow Yun Fat understands A LOT of
things. These black Wayfarers may clash with his fair skin, but with that jet
black hair…they frame his face in a fantastic way.
Also
this guy….
Brown hair, fair skin….he goes with Black Ray Ban Wayfarers…AND
it works! One of his best films as well.
If you
have dark skin both work, in fact if you have dark skin you have tons of
options. Black dudes, in my opinion, can rock any damn sunglasses out there,
style or color. Aviators, Wayfarers, Clubmasters (browlines), Sport Glasses,
Goggles, black, tortoise, red, yellow, green, Hell animal prints can work for
them…so if you’re Black, check out that first and only rule and it's all fair
game.
Terry
Crews has no trouble blazing a trail far from the ordinary in these bold blue
Aviaator inspired square frames…note the gold hardware completing the
frames…Terry could make these work with steel or gold, and both would work with
blue…THE MAN KNOWS!
Or P Diddy here, a little more non-chalant Black Wayfarer style,
and they work just as well for his face.
Just some examples.
Just
some ideas.
And we
haven't even started discussing frames yet! But remember…whatever damn
accessory you want, find one that you like to the point where if someone asked
“why did you get that?” You'd just say, “Because I friggin LIKED IT!” And
you'll be rocking it, there's nothing cooler than someone wearing something
that makes them feel confident, no matter what it is.
